Walgreen Co. is preparing to walk away from its relationship with pharmacy benefits manager Express Scripts Inc., some 10 weeks after the Deerfield-based drugstore giant reported contract renewal negotiations had stalled.
In a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Tuesday, Walgreen said “negotiations remain at an impasse” and the company has begun informing patients it will not be a part of the Express Scripts network as of Jan. 1.
