Students do not “spend time away from the classroom” during teacher prep periods as stated in article in today’s article. The time may not be spent in their “homeroom,” but students are in library, gym, technology, music, art and other classes. They are taught by teachers certified in those disciplines. To suggest that students are not spending instructional time in a learning environment does a disservice to the certified educators who provide children with these valuable educational experiences.
