In the Sept. 12 letter “Failed solutions,” the author states that for the past 10 years, the economic policies and “unlimited spending on the military’s avoidable overseas adventures” didn’t work. Huh? It’s clear that our quite necessary interventions in both Afghanistan and Iraq worked quite well and resulted in a safer America and two free countries in the Middle East.

The economic policies didn’t work? That would also be incorrect, considering that at the height of U.S. involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan, from 2003 to 2007, this country experienced record economic growth along with low unemployment.
