The Congress Parkway, even before the current construction, has been a place of terror for pedestrians. Drivers speeding off the Eisenhower are impatient and irresponsible, ignoring crosswalks and pedestrians’ needs.
My wife, who is sight-impaired but not blind, has had near misses with motorists in recent weeks.
I think we need to deal with this problem by adding speed cameras, more traffic police (especially now during construction) and enforce the laws rigorously. Is it worth a pedestrian’s death to allow this blatant disregard of safety?
