ARLINGTON, Texas – The Chicago White Sox have re-signed pitcher Kip Wells to a minor league contract, according to a tweet from CBSSports’ Jon Heyman.
Wells, 34, hasn’t pitched in the major leagues since 2009 with Cincinnati. According to Heyman’s tweet, Wells’ fastball has been clocked as high as 94 mph.
Wells, a former first round pick, pitched for the Sox from 1999-2001, compiling a 20-21 record and 5.14 ERA. He was part of a five-player trade that sent pitcher Todd Ritchie to the Sox. Wells has pitched for five major league teams.
