INF Danny Worth was optioned Friday to Triple-A Toledo to make room for 2B Brandon Inge on Detroit’s roster. Worth appeared in three games for Detroit this season, with a single in five at-bats.

RHP Brayan Villarreal was optioned Friday to Triple-A Toledo because Detroit will bring up LHP Adam Wilk to start Saturday at Chicago against the White Sox. Villarreal was brought up when RHP Doug Fister was placed on the disabled list after suffering a left side muscle strain.

3B Miguel Cabrera caused a seven-minute delay in the first inning Friday when he noticed the batter’s box was not properly set up. Cabrera settled in to bat with two out in the first, but his back foot was behind the back line of the box by a good 6-to-8 inches.

2B Brandon Inge will be recalled from a rehab assignment Saturday and is likely to start Sunday against the White Sox, who will be starting LHP Chris Sale.

LF Delmon Young hit a two-run home run Friday to account for both Detroit runs but got turned around on an apparently wind-blown ball that turned into a key triple for Chicago in the eighth inning.

LHP Adam Wilk will be recalled from Triple-A Toledo in time to start Saturday against the White Sox in Chicago. Wilk replaces RHP Doug Fister, disabled following his first start due to a left side strain, in Detroit’s rotation.

RHP Max Scherzer fixed his delivery problems, but was not able to deliver himself or his team a victory. Scherzer, roughed up in his first start of the season, worked six innings Friday, striking out 11 but giving up a solo home run in the fifth and two runs in the sixth.
