I use my Kindle to help mask the fact that I’m a rampaging NERD. Not that I’m not already outed by being a librarian/book reviewer/book blogger who owns lots of books and does little outside of reading books — you should now begin to see a theme emerging. I have roughly 50 Kindle Freebies: Obscure books I’d never be able to buy, mostly because they’re not to be found for love or money anywhere else, and/or not at a price that I could ever afford, even on my “affluent” librarian salary. If I were to feel the impulse to buy something “unsavory” I don’t know what I’d do anymore! Oh, the woe that is the modern age. There is no place to hide …
— Looking for privacy
I’m currently reading “The Sexual History of London” by Catharine Arnold! Not embarrassing per se, but I wouldn’t read a paper copy on public transit; it seems like a great in for would-be harassers.
