Knicks, Woodson discussing contract?
The Knicks have “initiated talks” to keep Mike Woodson as head coach, according to a report in the New York Daily News, though Woodson denied that any discussions have begun.
The paper said negotiations are in the “preliminary stages,” but Knicks management is “convinced” that Woodson is the man to lead the team.
“That’s not true, not at all,” Woodson told reporters after Tuesday’s practice.
Woodson, 53, took over for the fired Mike D’Antoni on March 15 and guided the team to an 18-6 record during the rest of the regular season. The team trails the Miami Heat, 3-1 in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
