Youkilis returns for Red Sox
Boston Red Sox infielder Kevin Youkilis returned to action Tuesday night and was in the starting lineup at first base.
Youkilis usually plays third base, but because so many outfielders are injured, Youkilis replaced Adrian Gonzalez at first base, so Gonzalez could play right field. Youkilis has been sidelined since April 28 with a lower back strain. He hit .364 in four games of rehab with Triple A Pawtucket but is hitting just .219 with the Red Sox this season.
“Just be healthy and play,” he told reporters before Tuesday’s game. “That’s what I want to do. I feel good right now.”
