Is anyone really surprised that the Illinois Legislature failed to reach a consensus on pension reform? Of course not; we live in Illinois, the state that works for all the politicians but nobody else.

I have one question: How can the Democrats control the governorship and both houses of the Legislature and fail to get the job done?

Illinois politicians (both Democrats and Republicans) are so beholden to all the various special-interests groups (government workers, unions, the race-track business and others) that getting nothing done and protecting what is already “theirs” is more important than the interests of the citizens.

I hope this state goes backrupt; I’ll move and leave the problem here.
