HONG KONG, Aug 13 (Reuters) – These are some of the leading

stories in Hong Kong newspapers on Monday. Reuters has not

SOUTH CHINA MORNING POST

— U.S. apparel brand Gap Inc aims to open 20 more

stores in Hong Kong and on the mainland over the next six

months, which would bring its total number of stores in China to

45, said Redmond Yeung, president for greater China at Gap.

— Animal welfare groups have now removed big names such as

Est (c)e Lauder Cos Inc, Mary Kay and Avon, as well as

French cosmetics group L’Occitane, from their list of

cruelty-free brands and plan to call for customer boycotts.

THE STANDARD

— MTR Corp is expected to post a slight decline

in first-half profit as lower earnings from its property

business may have offset growth in other operations. The company

is due to announce its results on Monday.

HONG KONG ECONOMIC TIMES

— CK Life Sciences International, a biotechnology

company controlled by tycoon Li Ka-shing, plans to spin off its

U.S.-based pharmaceutical research and development unit,

Polynoma LLC, on the Nasdaq.

— Mainland China property developer Country Garden

said contract sales for July totalled 4.75 billion

yuan ($746.9 million), up 5.5 percent from a year ago.

WEN WEI PO

— New Zealand’s dairy processor Fonterra Cooperative Group

Ltd will help China Mengniu Dairy Co Ltd,

the country’s biggest dairy products maker, to design a set of

quality control and improvement plan.
