The British Film Institute has appointed Isabel Davis head of international, it announced Monday at a reception celebrating U.K. film at the Toronto Intl. Film Festival. Davis, who transferred to the BFI from the U.K. Film Council in April 2011, will take a strategic overview of all international activity at the BFI. This includes inward investment and film exports. Film production spend reached a record GBP1.27 billion ($2 billion) in the U.K. in 2011. Film exports have trebled since 2001, totalling $3.4 billion in 2010. Davis will work with the government, the local film industry, international filmmakers, trade orgs and BFI partners. She also remains a key part of the BFI Film Fund’s editorial team, tracking international filmmakers to partner with the U.K., and U.K. projects with international co-production potential. Before joining the UKFC in 2006, Davis was head of development at HomeRun Film.
