Loyola (Md.) 71, Binghamton 45: Dylon Cormier scored 21 points as the host Greyhounds scored 19 of the game’s first 21 points en route to an easy victory.
Cormier, a junior guard, was 8-for-14 from the floor while graduate forward Erik Etherly added 11 points on 5-of-9 shooting with six rebounds and three steals.
Senior guard Jimmy Gray tallied a team-high 14 points for the Bearcats, but turned the ball over five times.
Cormier’s three-point play broke a 2-2 tie 1:32 into regulation. After a Jordan Latham jumper and two baskets from Etherly, Tyler Hubbard and Cormier hit back-to-back 3-pointers to break the game open.
The Bearcats got as close as 12 when a Gray 3-pointer cut the deficit to 26-14 with 3:49 left in the half, but another Hubbard 3 sparked an 11-2 run as the Greyhounds took a 39-22 lead into halftime. A Robert Olson 3-pointer 6:25 into the second half capped a 6-0 Loyola run and pushed the lead to an insurmountable 51-29.
