Recap: Oregon 83, UNLV 79
Oregon 83, No. 18 UNLV 79: Damyean Dotson made a spinning shot in the lane with 16 seconds left to snap a tie as the Ducks upset the host Runnin’ Rebels in the semifinals of the Global Sports Classic.
Dotson, who finished with a team-high 19 points, also hit a pair of free throws with six seconds to play to secure the victory as Oregon ended UNLV’s 20-game winning streak at home.
The Ducks (5-0) will face No. 20 Cincinnati in the title game on Saturday night. The Bearcats beat Iowa State 78-70 earlier in the night.
Oregon rattled the UNLV backcourt with a full-court press to take a 40-37 lead at the half. But the Rebels regouped, sending the game to a tight finish.
Anthony Bennett led UNLV (2-1) with 22 points and 10 rebounds while Katin Reinhardt added 18 points. Carlos Emory came off the bench to score 16 for Oregon.
Game notebook: UNLV will face Iowa State in the consolation game Saturday. … Waverly Austin returned to the Oregon lineup after missing Monday’s game with a wrist injury. Emory also played well after sustaining an injury on Monday. … Oregon’s Ben Carter (12 points) chose the Ducks over the Rebels while Bennett, who is from Canada, did the opposite.
