1B Justin Smoak went 1-for-5 with an RBI on Thursday in his first rehab game for Triple-A Tacoma. Smoak has been out since May 30 due to a strained right oblique, and he might return to the Mariners soon.
C Brandon Bantz, designated for assignment by the Mariners on Tuesday, cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Tacoma. Bantz, 26, played in one major league game and went 0-for-2.
