Giants 3, Orioles 2: Hunter Pence delivered a two-run double and Chad Gaudin tossed five strong innings as host San Francisco snapped Baltimoreâ??s three-game winning streak.
The Giants trailed 1-0 before scoring three times in the sixth off Wei-Yin Chen (6-5) when Marco Scutaro singled in a run and Pence lined a two-run double down the right-field line with two outs. The win was San Francisco’s eighth in its last 26 home games.
Chris Davis led off the eighth inning with his major league-leading 42nd homer for Baltimore, which fell five games back of first-place Boston Red Sox in the American League East and remained 1 1/2 games back of the second wild-card spot in the American League.
Gaudin threw 93 pitches through five frames while allowing one unearned run before Guillermo Moscoso (1-0) tossed two scoreless innings for the win. Sergio Romo worked around a leadoff single in the ninth for his 28th save.
The Orioles, who won the first three games of their eight-game road trip, had two runners on with one out in the eighth before Santiago Casilla struck out Ryan Flaherty and Matt Wieters to end the threat.
