Over 200,000 people participated in the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom on Aug. 28, 1963 at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington. Martin Luther King Jr. gave his famous ‘I have a dream’ speech at the political rally calling for civil and economic freedom for African-Americans. President Barack Obama will mark the 50th anniversary of the speech by speaking from the same steps at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C.
