Ducks 3, Canucks 1: Corey Perry scored his team-leading 11th goal and helped set up Nick Bonino’s tally late in the second period as Anaheim extended its franchise-best start at home to 8-0-0.
Andrew Cogliano sealed the win on an empty-net goal with 21 seconds remaining in the third period. Frederik Andersen turned aside 35 shots for the Ducks, who have won five straight overall to improve to 8-0-1 in their last nine contests.
Tom Sestito scored his first goal of the season and sixth career while Eddie Lack made 20 saves for the Canucks, who finished their four-game road trip with a 1-2-1 mark. Vancouver will begin a six-game homestand against San Jose on Thursday.
After Sestito’s one-timer forged a 1-1 tie with 5:51 remaining in the second period, Anaheim countered exactly five minutes later. Etem accepted Perry’s lead pass and skated through the left circle to draw the attention of Lack before sending a feed to Bonino for an easy tap-in goal.
The Ducks opened the scoring 8:30 into the second as defenseman Francois Beauchemin’s blast from the point hit Lack’s right shoulder. Perry alertly used his head – literally – on the rebound to bat the puck to his stick before tapping it home.
