Jets 3, Red Wings 2 (SO): Devin Setoguchi and Andrew Ladd scored in the shootout as Winnipeg handed host Detroit its sixth consecutive home loss.
Setoguchi snapped a wrist shot over Detroit netminder Jimmy Howard’s blocker on Winnipeg’s first attempt, while Daniel Alfredsson answered for the Red Wings in round two. Ladd then put Winnipeg ahead for good with a shot that beat Howard on the stick side, giving the Jets their third straight win.
Bryan Little and Zach Bogosian scored in regulation for the Jets, who climbed back to the .500 mark. Pavel Datsyuk had a pair of power-play goals for the Red Wings, who last dropped six straight home games from Feb. 8-March 3, 1986.
Little opened the scoring at 7:10 of the opening period, snapping a low one-timer from the right slot past Howard. Detroit evened things on the man advantage with 5:16 remaining in the frame, as Datsyuk walked off the half wall following a nifty pass from Henrik Zetterberg and snapped the puck into a partially open net.
After the teams played a scoreless second, Detroit dominated the first half of the third but couldn’t prevent Evander Kane from centering a pass to Bogosian, who stickhandled around a Detroit defenseman before wristing a shot past an out-of-position Howard at 10:47. Datsyuk drew the Red Wings level again at 13:11, poking home a loose puck just as a 5-on-3 advantage came to an end.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Ladd is 5-for-5 in shootouts this season and has scored seven straight goals in the format. … The two-goal game was the 29th of Datsyuk’s career; he’s still looking for his first hat trick. … Red Wings F Johan Franzen returned to the lineup after missing the previous four games with an upper-body injury.
