Reignite middle class

Hoping to divert attention from the Obamacare debacle, President Barack Obama said that he wanted to shift his focus to the shrinking American middle class and income inequality. The good news is that we can fix the shrinking middle class; Obamacare is unfixable.

Benjamin Franklin addressed half of the problem causing a shrinking middle class when he said, “When you make poverty easy, you will have more of it.”

Clearly we have made poverty far too easy with the massive growth and fraud in food stamps, Medicaid, etc., under the “nanny state.” Unfortunately, due to the decline in our culture and abundance of free government goodies, many people are OK with not working and living on the public dole.

Franklin’s logic in reverse also describes the other key reason the middle class is shrinking: “If you make jobs too expensive you will have fewer of them.”

When America was the manufacturing arsenal of freedom for the world, it had the largest and most prosperous middle class in the world. Unfortunately, then our government made American jobs so expensive, millions of them were shipped to China, devastating the middle class.

America has the highest corporate taxes in the civilized world and the most expensive and complex government regulations in the world. Those costs are what drove the jobs that created the middle class to China.

Millions of Americans just want a job and the chance to work their way back to the middle class. All Obama needs to do to reignite the middle class is lower corporate taxes, stop double taxing foreign profits and reduce government regulations.

Problem solved, and we will see the launch of the American renaissance and a vibrant middle class!
