1B Brett Pill was officially released by the Giants on Jan. 2 so he could join the KIA Tigers in South Korea. Pill, 29, battled 1B Brandon Belt for playing time in recent years but never won the job. In 48 games last season, Pill hit .224/.272/.376 with three homers and 12 RBIs. Over 111 games with San Francisco since 2011, he batted .233/.279/.404 with nine homers and 32 RBIs.
