The winter that won’t quit has become one of the snowiest ever.
After the weekend’s rounds of snow, the 2013-14 seasonal snowfall amount is now the 4th snowiest at 73.4 inches. If more snow hits, Chicago could challenge the 1969-70 winter to become third-snowiest.
But no matter how miserable this winter seems, it’s not likely to topple the winter of 1978-79, which saw almost 90 inches of snow.
Here are Chicago’s top 10 snowiest winters since snow records began in 1884-85.
89.7 inches: 1978-79
82.3 inches: 1977-78
77.0 inches: 1969-70
73.4 inches: 2013-14
68.4 inches: 1966-67
66.4 inches: 1951-52
64.1 inches: 1917-18
60.3 inches: 2007-08
59.5 inches (twice): 1903-04, 1964-65
59.3 inches: 1981-82
