Game On Dude wins record third Santa Anita Handicap
After coming up short in his previous three races, Game On Dude reached back for some of his prior glory to became the first three-time winner of the Santa Anita Handicap on Saturday in Arcadia, Calif.
Shaking off challenges from several competitors, including Will Take Charge, Mucho Macho Man and Hear the Ghost, Game On Dude was just too strong to catch.
Game On Dude covered the 1 1/4-mile course in 1:57.17 and paid $9.60 for the win. It was his 16th win in 31 starts.
He is owned by a partnership that includes Joe Torre, Debbie Lanni and Bernie Schiappa.
Will Take Charge finished second and Blingo rallied to take third.
