An unnamed female okapi calf born April 27 explores the grounds with her mother Semliki, 8, at Brookfield Zoo’s African Habita. Okapi are a rare hoofed mammal native to the dense Ituri Forest in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The species was not discovered by American and European scientists until the early 1900s. See a video of the baby.
