HONG KONG – Two local Taiwanese films will play in the New Talent competition at next month’s
(June 27 – July 19, 2014).
The competition is open to first and second features and comes with a first prize of $20,000. It has been the platform for previous Taiwanese directors, including
and
, to rise to prominence.
“Partners in Crime,” (pictured) by “Touch of the Light” director
, is a drama in which three students investigate the death of a classmate. “Exit,” by cinematographer-turned director Chienn Hsiang, sees a lonely mother give a hospital patient a little extra help.
Competition results will be announced on July 2, 2014.
