“Honestly, I don’t think that would have much impact at all, because we’re not drawing significant funding impact from West Coast places. Valuation structure in the Midwest is not influenced by outliers on the West Coast. People investing at the angel round, seed round, those valuations if anything are flat. I think that means that reality persists, except in the goofy, very few crazy stories that are West Coast stories.

“I think that all of the air is in B2C, the business-to-consumer market, and I think all of the reality and all those things that are opportunity are in B2B, business-to-business — and that’s what the Chicago culture is about. I think we’re reasonably well insulated from the froth on the West Coast. For us, good IPOs will be $2-3 billion. They won’t be $50 billion. That’s fine. We’re building a broad base of new offerings. I’m not really concerned, is the bottom line.”
