Hi, I’m Brian. I’ve been a staff photojournalist at the Tribune for five years and today I’m launching a blog for the first time on chicagotribune.com. I follow in the illustrious footsteps of my former colleagues Alex Garcia and Scott Strazzante who shared their photographs and insights here with much success the past few years.
I’ve actually been blogging for about ten years through several jobs and you can probably find a trail of those across the internet. Running my own space inside the Tribune site will hopefully allow me to share more of my work created on assignment as well as the stories behind how the images came to be. I also hope to share links to other great photojournalism from the Tribune and beyond.
I’m a Baltimore native and University of North Carolina graduate. Before arriving in Chicago I spent four years at the Tampa Bay Times but I’ve had five Midwestern winters to forget all about Florida. I love exploring the history of Chicago neighborhoods and learning how this city grew into what it is today.
Like everyone on the photography staff here, my coverage runs the full range of everything that appears in the Tribune from news to features to sports. Most of the time it’s here at home in Chicago, but I love to travel and look forward to sharing some of those experiences. This year I covered the Sochi Winter Olympics and will be a part of our Bears coverage again this fall.
