METROMIX.COM SERVES UP TOP CHICAGO CHEFS ON AUCTION BLOCK

CHICAGO, May 29, 2002 – Let the bidding begin in the second annual Chicago Chef Auction, presented by metromix.com, Chicago’s premier entertainment guide, and Green City Market, beginning May 30.

Twenty-six Chicago chefs have offered to pack up their spatulas, mixing bowls and cutting boards and spend an evening cooking for the highest bidder, all in support of a worthy cause-sustainable agriculture. Among the participating chefs: Paul Kahan of Blackbird, Mark Baker of Seasons and Sarah Stegner of The Dining Room at the Ritz-Carlton. Rick Bayless of Frontera Grill and Topolobampo is offering dinner for eight in his own home and Caliterra chef John Coletta has proposed dinner for eight in the restaurant’s wine room.

The chefs will supply a four-course dinner, complete with table linens, wine and service staff, many in the homes of the top bidders. All auction packages are dinner for eight guests and must take place on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday evening agreed upon by recipient and chef. Browse available packages on metromix.com; bids may be placed May 30 through June 20. Last year, Bayless proved the hottest ticket, receiving a bid of $3000.
