CHICAGO TRIBUNE ANNOUNCES 2002 GOOD EATING AWARDS

CHICAGO, October 17, 2002 – The Chicago Tribune Good Eating staff will honor those in the food and beverage industries who are making a difference in Chicago through their commitment, quality, passion and vision in a special Good Eating section on October 23. The following will be honored with a 2002 Good Eating Award:

• Portia Belloc-Lowndes and Kelly Gibson, founders, Slow Food Chicago
• Beverly Decker, executive director, Chicago Anti-Hunger Federation
• En-Ming Hsu, executive pastry chef, Ritz-Carlton Chicago
• Paul Kahan, executive chef and partner, Blackbird
• Don Newcomb, president, ChicaGourmets!
• Rick Tramonto and Gale Gand, Tru Restaurant
• Bill Reynolds, culinary director, Washburne Culinary Institute
• Luis Perea and Laura Cid, owners, Bombon Bakery
• Drucilla Banks, nutrition and wellness educator, Chicago Extension Center
• Kofi and Yvette Moyo, founders, Real Men Cook
• Fred Koehler, founder, Lynfred Winery
• Patty and Tom Erd, owners, The Spice House

“Good Eating,” the section’s companion cable television program on CLTV (Chicagoland Television), will feature several of the winners shows that will air Oct. 20, 23 and 26 at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
