Rookie right fielder Jorge Soler will return Monday night to the Chicago Cubs’ lineup as they try to prevent St. Louis Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright from earning his 20th victory at brisk Wrigley Field.
Soler didn’t play Sunday as the Cubs want to preserve his hamstrings. Soler is scheduled to start each of the Cubs’ final six regular-season games. Soler has reached base safely in 16 of 18 games and hit safely in 15.
Arismendy Alcantara will move from center field to second base. The Cubs will attempt to delay the Cardinals’ clinching of their National League Central title.
