Autumn Smith’s idea:
A career-prep community center with both a physical and online presence. Chicagoans would receive help with resumes, cover letters, typing, computer classes and professional business clothing.
>> Autumn’s big idea was sparked by the February 2011 blizzard. “I was stuck inside, and decided to reach out to my social media followers, to see if anyone wanted to send me their resume for help. … I received a great response, and was encouraged by some to see how I could do this for a living.”
>> Though she’s lived here most of her life, Autumn would spend a free day in Chicago exploring its diverse neighborhoods. “Visiting the National Hellenic Museum in Greektown, checking out a Pakistani restaurant on Devon Street and trying a new cuisine in Chinatown are just a few things I would like to do,” she said.
Other contestants in the community category:
Alex Dangerfield & Keenan Coke
