Two-alarm fire in South Loop

A fire started early New Year’s Eve morning in a South Loop building housing restaurants and a cellphone store on the northeast corner of State Street and Cermak Road. The roof collapsed in places as flames spread through a small gap above the ceiling of the one-story building, officials said.
