Northbrook

The following items were taken from Northbrook police reports:

A resident in the 1000 block of Dell Road reported Jan. 29 that he received a phone call from a person claiming to be his grandson from out of state. The caller related he crashed his car into a garage and injured his nose in the accident, which was why he sounded different. He said the garage owner agreed not to press charges in exchange for money. A different person, who identified himself as a Boston police officer, spoke to the resident and told him where to send the money. The resident went to a pharmacy and purchased a MoneyGram in the amount of $750 and sent it to a San Diego address. Later, the resident spoke to his grandson, who said he had not contacted him. The Northbrook police were able to contact MoneyGram and get the $750 returned.

A 51-year-old Chicago man was arrested Jan. 31 and charged with a suspended registration for mandatory insurance violation after being stopped by police at Dundee Road and Hazelwood Drive.

An 18-year-old Northbrook man was arrested Jan. 30 and charged with possession of cannabis and failure to signal after a traffic stop in the 1500 block of Lake Cook Road.

A Mac Book Pro valued at $2,655 was reportedly ordered and delivered to a house in the 2300 block of Scott Street using the credit card information of the resident. However, the resident reported Feb. 1 that she did not place the order and never received the delivery.
