In honor of Chinese New Year this Feb. 19, a number of restaurants are rolling out special celebratory menus. Here are the ways that Chicago eateries will be ringing in the new year next week.
Fat Rice: This year, Fat Rice (2957 W. Diversey Ave., 773-661-9170) will host a weeklong celebration of Chinese New Year with a brunch and dinner special.
Starting Feb. 17, the pan-Asian restaurant is offering a $88 meal for two that will include dishes such as pork dumplings with Sichuan chili oil and sweet soy sauce, Tiger Beer-steamed mussels and the Logan Square restaurant’s namesake dish, Fat Rice, which features jasmine rice topped with a variety of meat and shellfish. The dishes will also come with a bucket of Tiger Beer tallboys.
The Chinese New Year dinner special will be available Feb. 17-21, while the brunch version will be served Feb. 20-22.
Koi: To celebrate Chinese New Year, Koi (624 Davis St., Evanston; 847-866-6969) will feature 18 specialty dishes starting Feb. 19.
These will include options such as lychee chicken, Dragon and Phoenix (crispy chicken in a sweet and spicy sauce and sauteed shrimp and vegetables in a white wine sauce) and duck smoked in tea leaves and ginger. For more information or to make a reservation, call the restaurant.
Mott St: Mott St (1401 N. Ashland Ave., 773-687-9977) will ring in the Chinese New Year with a 10-course Supreme Imperial Feast.
From Feb. 18-21, chef Edward Kim will prepare this holiday dinner, which features dishes such as crispy shrimp, red miso chicken, steamed dumplings and crunchy crab brain fried rice. The meal is served family-style for $38.88 per person, with optional beverage pairings available for an additional $28.88.

Pavilion: Pavilion at The Langham Hotel (330 N. Wabash Ave., 312-923-7710) will host a Chinese New Year Tea in honor of the holiday.
From Feb. 16-22, Pavilion will feature a tea service with traditional Chinese teas such as jasmine pearl and Formosa oolong and menu items such as miso-marinated tofu, sweet and sour prawns, green tea macarons and coconut sesame cookies.
The cost is $58 per person, and seatings are available at 3 p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Tanta: In acknowledgment of the Chinese influence on Peruvian cuisine, Tanta (118 W. Grand Ave., 312-222-9700) will celebrate the Chinese New Year with dinner specials from Feb. 19-22.
Featured dishes include berenjakao, a shrimp-stuffed eggplant in rocoto sesame sauce ($14) and costillar, or short rib in star anise adobo with yellow chili mashed yuca ($32).
