Ocean expo: The Blue Wild Ocean Adventure Expo is 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Feb. 21-22 at the Broward County Convention Center. There are seminars on spearfishing, lobstering, free diving, underwater photography, shipwreck diving, kayak fishing and diving, paddleboard yoga and diving and safety. An array of marine wildlife artists will display their works and numerous dive gear manufacturers, retailers, dive charters and diving destinations will have booths. Admission is $23 per day, ages 12 and under free. Tickets include entry to the after party and a goodie bag, while supplies last. Early bird admission is $20. Bass results: Ethan Rogge of Weston caught five fish weighing a total of 7.02 pounds, including the big bass of 4.76, to win the junior division of the Broward County Bass Fishing Kids tournament Saturday at Tradewinds Park in Coconut Creek. Michael Cash of Plantation was second at 5.48. Arlene Delgado of Fort Lauderdale was third with a 3.4-pounder. Breanna Scott of Pompano Beach won the small fry division with .76. Alejandro Romay of Coral Springs was second at .45. Sixty-three kids competed.
Night hike: Fern Forest Nature Center in Coconut Creek has a naturalist-led night hike for all ages from 7 to 8 p.m. Feb. 13. Cost is $5. Call the park at 954-357-5198.
Fishing classic: The Bass Pro Shops store in Dania Beach has its annual Spring Fishing Classic through Feb. 15. Fishing and outdoor cooking tips for women will be at 3 p.m. Saturday.
Moon hike: Long Key Natural Area and Nature Center in Davie has a full moon hike for all ages from 7 to 8 p.m. Feb. 14. Watch the moonrise through the oaks while you listen to stories, myths and legends about it from around the world. Cost is $5. Pre-registration is required. Call the nature center at 954-357-8797.
Try-athalon: The Tamiami Trail “Try”-athlon, a day of paddling, hiking and bicycling, is Feb. 21 starting at 9 a.m. For the first time, park rangers will be leading the all-in-one day event. Reservations are required by calling the Gulf Coast Visitor Center in Everglades National Park at 239-695-3311. Paddling starts there, followed by hiking at the Oasis Visitor Center in Big Cypress National Preserve and biking at the Shark Valley Visitor Center.
Nature walks: Miramar Pineland, 3600 S. University Drive, Miramar, has twice-monthly Sunset Nature Walks for ages 6 and up from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The next walk is March 4. Cost is $3 per person. Bird counting: Everglades National Park has a Big Day Birding Adventure Feb. 14, where the public helps count birds within the park’s varied habitats. Meet at the Anhinga Trail parking area at 8 a.m. Be prepared to drive your car more than 40 miles to Flamingo, stopping at points of interest along the main park road. Some walking is involved.
