To the writer who thinks that Tinley Park officials need vision and hearing, perhaps he has not bothered to check on the dozens of businesses that Tinley Park officials had the vision to attract to the village last year. Every village has some unoccupied businesses at one time or another. No one is 100 percent occupied. As for unkempt homes, it is not the job of the village to keep up personal property. How would a 60 percent decrease in the village property tax help the village? The tax rate has not increased in two years. I guess campaign season has started.

Under the current administration Tinley Park has received many honors, but all you seem to do is look at where you can belittle the administration. Maybe you should include your last name in your comments. Maybe you should move to Chicago, where you can have many negatives to write about.

Former Gov. Pat Quinn is complaining that Gov. Rauner’s budget will affect generations of people. What about the generations of taxpayers who have been ruined because of Quinn’s and Mike Madigan’s excessive political spending? Our unborn children will be paying for his corrupt deals with the public employee unions.
The “right to work” states tell workers you don’t have to pay union dues to get benefits, you can just skim off the ones who are paying and not have any responsibility to contribute. Sounds like the government’s welfare systems that are in place all over this country that the left says is so wonderful. How can liberals be for one and not the other?

If you have a curbside mailbox, make sure you have large reflective numbers on it. If the paramedics are trying to find your house, especially at night and/or in bad weather, every second counts if you or one of your loved ones needs quick medical intervention. If your mailbox has those dinky and non-reflective numbers on it and paramedics have to hunt around to find your home, it could cost you or someone in your family their life. Go to the hardware store today.
Any state that relies on casinos for economic growth is going down the drain. State Rep. Robert Rita is a corrupt influence on our state. We need capital investment and jobs, not suckers.
A recent Speak Out section contained an opinion that when municipal mergers should only be “between towns that are economically and culturally similar.” What a clever, refined and polite way of saying that white towns should not have to merge with black towns. No crude racial language here. Just talk about matching towns with a similar economy and culture. Perhaps the comment was meant as an honest opinion, but similar coded language has been used since racists stopped wearing white robes and pointy hoods.

Tinley Park plans to add a stoplight on 80th Avenue for traffic from the Metra station. I would suggest that the best way to empty the parking lots at rush hour is to have three exit lanes — one for right turns, one for left turns and one for traffic going straight. This would move the most traffic in the least amount of time.
