A Glenview man was found not guilty at the Skokie courthouse on Thursday after he was charged last July in connection with a Park Ridge assault in which he repeatedly stabbed a man who insulted his girlfriend, court records show.
Kenneth J. Lee, 26, of the 900 block of Countryside Lane in Glenview, was found not guilty of all charges following a bench trial, court records show. Lee, who is a paramedic, was charged with three counts of felony aggravated battery and one count of reckless conduct in connection with the assault in early July.
On Wednesday, Lee took the stand in his own defense and said he was walking with his girlfriend in the 700 block of N. Western Avenue in Park Ridge when a 20-year-old man with a group of men insulted his girlfriend. A fight ensued and Lee stabbed the 20-year-old man five times as they struggled, he said. The injured man was taken to a hospital where he recovered, according to reports.
Lee testified Wednesday that during the fight he was hit repeatedly in the face and on the side of the head. He said he was afraid he might lose consciousness, so he grabbed a knife from his pocket that he used in his EMT work and stabbed at the other man until the hitting stopped. Police were called to the scene and Lee was arrested a short time later.
