April 27 through April 30, Father Simeon Gallagher is coming to Holy Spirit Church in Winfield for a mission/talk on relationships. Gallagher is the director of the preaching ministry office of the Capichin order of Franciscans. The event will be after both the 9 a.m. Mass and the 7 p.m. Mass. Nondenominational prayer service. Adults only.

May 9, Crown Point Public Safety Charity Softball Tournament, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Legacy Fields in Crown Point. Sign your team up before April 24. This is for active or retired firefighters, police officers, and EMS personnel from various departments throughout Northwest Indiana. This is a single-day, double-elimination tournament raising funds for the Hoosier Burn Camp. Time for fun and a great cause. Entry to watch is $5 per person, free for kids younger than 5. The concession stand will be open for drinks and food including alcoholic beverages. The concession stand is hosted by the City of Crown Point.
