Kudos to Waukegan mayor
I applaud Mayor Motley of Waukegan for bringing to light the workmen’s compensation issue. The City Council has repeatedly bandaged the financial problems of the city by raising property taxes. I hope the mayor will do what he can to lower property taxes, otherwise the city is doomed.
Injured should be compensated
Regarding the article in the News-Sun, “Mayor: Workers’ comp ‘epidemic.'” This is a topic that has been addressed by many business owners and people for a long, long time. You mean to tell me you won’t be compensated for being injured on the job? Being injured on a job isn’t an entitlement function. People need to be properly trained and hopefully when they do their job it will minimize injuries. It’s a simple fact that if you get injured on the job, you should be compensated.
Time for a charter school
The Waukegan residents deserve to have a choice whether they want a charter school or not. Charter schools across the country are very successful but the unions continue to persuade the Democrats to push them away because they’re competing with our public schools. Waukegan needs to have a charter school because our public school system is a disgrace. They keep throwing money into the schools yet the scores keep getting worse and there’s no improvement. The teachers and the unions seem to do well but the students don’t. It’s time for a charter school in Waukegan.
Social Security accountability
Has anyone else contacted the Social Security office and been told they exceeded their allotted conversation time? I had more phone time listening to the information about immigration and Obamacare then I was given handling my issue. I contacted the 800 call center and was told I was given erroneous information. Who’s responsible at the local level to ensure the correct information is being told to Social Security recipients. Who’s accountable?
Worst president
People say that Jimmy Carter was the worst president but what about President Obama?
School system is out of hand
In regards to the school referendum in Winthrop Harbor. Shut it down because this school system is getting out of hand. Has anyone noticed how much money the teachers, administrators and the principal are making? These are ridiculous salaries and people need to vote “No.” Live within your means because people can’t afford to keep paying for your fat cat salaries, insurance and holiday pay.
Forest preserve spending
It’s nice to know the forest preserve has all this money to work with. They buy property at exorbitantly high prices from their friends and then cut down all the trees turning it into grassland. If they buy grassland property, they plant trees. It makes no sense. A friend of mine was selling firewood by the cord because he was cutting down trees including oak.
Out of hand
In response to the Prairie Crossing Charter School article. The state shouldn’t be funding charter, private or Catholic schools. If people want to send their child to a private or special school, they should pay for it out of their own pocket. These schools want more and more money and it’s getting out of hand. There’s a lot of people that can’t afford some of these schools, so let’s get back to reality.
Breathtaking Easter show
I went and saw the Easter show “He Decided to Die” at the First Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church and it was so breathtaking. The actors were really good and it was the best play that I’ve ever seen in my entire life. Next year, make it your business to go see this show. It was founded by Edna Brown 37 years ago and her daughter now has taken over the show. This play is a must see, it was magnificent.
