Your child may play a part in a wonderful tale when Mother Goose and her Friends visit the Hinsdale Public Library, 20 E. Maple St. 2-3 p.m. Sunday, April 26.
“It’s interactive storytelling,” said Mary Jane Haley, better known as Mother Goose. “I bring the children up out of the audience and I turn them into the characters in the story. The audience is included because they become the storytellers.”
Haley has been enchanting families as Mother Goose for over 30 years, with the help of her puppets.
She wants kids to learn that literature is fun.
“Really this is about listening,” Haley said. “It’s a pre-reading skill. And Mother Goose rhymes are such a great thing because they’re fun to say, they’re fun to hear and it helps children to remember. And because the characters in the Mother Goose stories are fun and memorable, and their friends are taking part in the story, they do remember it.”
