An Aurora man is headed to prison for engaging in sexual acts with a minor child he knew.

Travis A. Armstrong, 31, most recently of the 400 block of North River Street in Aurora, on Friday agreed to a sentence of four years in prison in exchange for a guilty plea to aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a Class 2 felony.

Kane County Associate Judge Clint Hull accepted the plea.

Prosecutors presented evidence that between Jan. 1, 2014, and Jan. 25, 2014, Armstrong engaged in sexual acts with the victim, who was younger than 17 years old at the time. Armstrong knew the victim.

In addition to the prison term, Armstrong must register for life as a sexual offender in accordance with the Illinois Sexual Offender Registration Act.

According to Illinois law, Armstrong is eligible for day-for-day credit. He receives credit for at least 371 days served in the Kane County jail, where he has been held since his arrest in lieu of $100,000 bail. Bond was revoked upon conviction.
