I am 66 years old, and the old saying’s “never say never” because there were two things I never thought I’d see: a black president and gay people getting married. That just goes to show you, if you keep on trying to achieve something, sooner or later you will get it here in these United States.

When Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump pries his foot out of his mouth, I think we should stop referring to him as a self-made man. If my daddy handed me millions, I, too, would be a self-made man. I am now except I only make $25,000 a year.

Griffith is about the only town that did not have fireworks for Fourth of July. Now the only time we have fireworks is when St. Mary Church in Griffith has fireworks after their big St. Mary Western Days Festival in August. Why don’t some of the organizations in Griffith donate toward the fireworks?

Since we’re now privy to Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s every single email, shouldn’t all Republican presidential candidates have to show their emails too? Why would there be a double standard?

I’d like to know why people continue to go into waters that are known to be infested by sharks. Is it so they can be in the news with the loss of a limb or serious trauma? I really don’t understand it. It makes no sense to me.

The TV Land channel made the biggest mistake in the world taking off the TV show “The Dukes of Hazzard” just because of the Confederate flag. The Confederate flag is just as important as the American flag.

It’s very telling that the Republican Party’s second-place candidate in the clown car is still Donald Trump. With all the crazy things that are going on in this world, that guy is their second choice?

As a staff nurse with 35 years of experience at a local hospital, I am appalled by the conduct of Kathy Lynn Lynch and Karen Suzanne Dunning, these two nurse practitioners in Kouts. I really feel embarrassed that they made the front page of the newspaper. They know the law regarding prescription diet medications. They must pay the price.

My beloved mother at the age of 96 is gone. I am so happy she is no longer plagued with the telemarketers and the scam artists that always tried to get her to spend money to get money. Mom, rest in peace and, you no-good scam artists, you’re going to get yours one day.

So Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders pulled 10,000 people and 3,000 were turned away in Madison, Wis., recently. The media coverage? Zero. I wonder if Republican presidential candidate Rand Paul or Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton pulled 10,000 people in one sitting if there’d be any media coverage. Makes you think, doesn’t it?

I’d like to know how long it takes for the state or Merrillville to do repairs on Broadway. They’ve been repairing that road for a month or a month and a half already. They work whenever they want. And there should be a flag man there all the time.

What if former President Bill Clinton was the honest Clinton?

I am a nurse. After reading about Kouts nurse practitioners Kathy Lynn Lynch and Karen Suzanne Dunning, I feel somewhat sympathetic. There are laws and regulations we must follow regarding prescriptions. If you cross those lines, then there are consequences, no matter what people feel about you and how much good you are doing for the community.

Will somebody please tell Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump that the White House is not for sale?
