From what you have seen and heard at training camp and from the coaches, can Shea McClellin succeed at inside linebacker? — @gurleen_bhinder
I think it is fair to say that if McClellin does not click at the new position, it will not be for lack of an opportunity. He’s worked primarily with the starters during training camp and that is where he saw him most of the time during the offseason program. McClellin has definitely been given a chance.
It’s premature to pass judgment at his latest position. I don’t view him as a lock for this team just yet but the Bears don’t have a ton of depth at the position either. Christian Jones has been running with the starters at inside linebacker. Behind them there is Mason Foster and DeDe Lattimore as well as Jon Bostic, who is running trailing after injuries wiped out his offseason program. McClellin is at his third position and shifting around certainly hasn’t helped him. I’m skeptical that he will ever be a big-time producer but he’s shown enough to be atop whatever unofficial depth chart the coaches keep at this time of year.
