I predict that if the Democrats win the election for governor in the state of Indiana and gain control of the state legislature, the billions of dollars in surplus the state has built up will be gone by 2020. And there will be a budget deficit.
Our family visited a museum 35 years ago and again this summer at Little Bohemia Lodge in the north woods of Wisconsin where John Dillinger and his gang were involved in a shootout with police in the 1930s.. Little Bohemia never felt the need to stress “crime doesn’t pay.” Evidently the John Dillinger Museum in Crown Point believes people now are less mature and need things explained to them. It’s sad.
The choice for voters in 2016 will not be who is the best candidate but which is the lesser of two evils.
Gov. Mike Pence and the Republicans like charter schools because some Republican crony is making money. It’s not about educating the children, it’s about making money and getting campaign contributions. It’s for profit. My tax dollars are going to a for-profit corporation.
The people of Michigan City have nothing on the people of Cedar Lake. They may see a black bear, but every Saturday night people come out of the taverns in Cedar Lake and see pink elephants.
Have any of you who look down on someone who works at a fast-food place ever thought this may be the only job the person can find and at least give them credit that they are working and not laying around home hoping someone else pays the bills. It may not be the best job, but it is a job.
Mike Pence is just a paid shill of the coal industry. More jobs can be created using sustainable energy sources than are lost from closing coal-burning plants.
Thanks to the Supreme Court’s Citizens United ruling, our entire political process has been hijacked by the rich and their super PACs. Candidates will say or do anything to attract money from these high rollers. The rest of us count for nothing.
So Mike Pence’s great plan for our tax surplus is to bail out businesses that have been negligent in repaying their federal unemployment loan. What about the millions who paid those taxes? Some rainy-day fund. I guess it only rains on business interests.
TV weather forecasters are just making what they hope are educated guesses that end up right most of the time. I’ve watched them say it would be sunny and I look out my back window and it’s pouring rain. But I like almost all the weather people — including Cheryl Scott.
Republicans want to “get Hillary,” as you say, because she is dishonest about Benghazi and her email accounts. She has disrespected the high office of secretary of state refusing to produce emails that are public records. And these are just two of her arrogant actions.
Love the European Farmer’s Market in Chesterton. None better. Too bad someone spoiled it by encouraging dogs on leashes in an already overcrowded venue. One of these days a cute canine is going to trip an unsuspecting senior citizen. As they say in Hollywood: Break a leg!
