He is out to kill the unions and is only for himself and other rich people in Illinois. Is that all you can say about Gov. Rauner? Same old tired song. Aren’t your tired old talking points getting to be monotonous? How about him trying to do what he can to stop the overspending? How about getting this state out of debt? How about trying to do the right thing instead of caving in to the old “gimme-more” clan? The gravy train needs to stop whether you like it or not.
I have to confess that I am enjoying the circus surrounding Donald Trump’s campaign for president. But that’s all it is. When seriously considering my vote, is Trump really the person I want having access to the red button marked, “Launch Nuclear Missiles?”

When former Chicago Cubs great Ernie Banks passed away and former Chicago White Sox player Minnie Minoso passed away, they had the TV crews there, covering the funerals and talking about the players’ great careers. I’d like to know why it wasn’t that way for former White Sox star pitcher Billy Pierce. I don’t think it’s right. How can you do that for two Chicago baseball stars and forget about another one?
To Annie of Oak Lawn: Come on, Bruce Rauner was voted in by a majority of the voters. Why? Because we are tired of Madigan and the rest of the Democrats running our state deeper and deeper into bankruptcy. Nobody is being duped but those of you who think the Democrats are going to find a way to save us. The state of Illinois is broke. Get it?

Phil Kadner wrote recently about what’s happening to gasoline prices and how the oil industry creates shortages by having convenient accidents at refineries when gas prices are going down and our government can’t or won’t do anything. I agree with Kadner on how the gasoline companies are gouging us when they suddenly greatly raise prices. How can they justify a raise of 30 cents a gallon in one day? Are we that complacent to accept these price hikes? We don’t have a voice any more in our government. Who will put an end to this raping of our economy?

In response to the critics of Gov. Rauner for wanting to change the business climate in Illinois, we better wake up soon because every week you hear about companies leaving the state for neighboring states that have a better business climate. Meanwhile, Illinois sinks deeper into debt with fewer workers to help bail it out.
If Republicans want to put up a fight in next year’s presidential election, they will nominate two of the following three as their presidential and vice presidential choices: U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, former Hewlett-Packard chief executive officer Carly Fiorina and Ohio Gov. John Kasich. But even doing this will only mean a narrow defeat. I’m sorry, guys. You lose again.

I am sick and tired of reading comments from people who do nothing but repeat progressive talking points. They usually complain about the rich and corporate welfare but have no facts. Their message is usually one of envy. They know nothing of history. I think the editors should look more for original comments from people who have something to say and not just ideological rants.

It’s funny how everybody complains about the jet noise from Midway International Airport and O’Hare International Airport, but nobody ever hears any complaints about the trains in the south suburbs night and day. These freight trains from Canadian National Railway, nobody ever hears anything about the noise they make. Oh, yeah, I forgot. We’re in the south suburbs. Nobody cares about us, especially the government.

Regarding House Speaker Michael Madigan down in Springfield: It’s about time we retire him out of office. After 30 years, what do you think they’re going to pay this guy for a pension? Who knows? He’s done nothing for the middle class. He’s done nothing for the poor but collect a fat paycheck and an outrageous pension. Let’s go. Get him out of office.
