As the temperature cools down, remember that the right accessories are just as essential to your autumn look as your new sweater.
Stephanie Sparks, co-owner of Dazz Boutique in Franklin Park, said that a big accessory this fall is the brooch. But it’s not your grandmother’s brooch.
“[They’re] are all about the bling,” Sparks said.
Just like the brooch—which can be worn atop a blazer, sweater or a black shirt—a good necklace can quickly make an otherwise ordinary outfit stand out.
“Geometric styles and fringe necklaces with tassels [are trendy,]” Sparks said.
Fly 2 Buy in Elmhurst sells a cute, reasonably-priced line of necklaces called the Must Have Collection.
Earrings can be worn both big and small.
“Pearl stud earrings will go with anything dressed up or down, and dangly earrings are always a good option,” Sparks said. “Oversized earrings, minimal designs and geometric patterns [are also trendy.]”
The geometric look also holds up for cardigans, trench coats and tights.
Cuff bracelets add another dimension of style.
“You can create your own style by stacking them,” Sparks said.
Fly 2 Buy owner Betty Gilbert prefers those with stone, crystal and animal accents.
Finish off your look with a “box purse” from Dazz; primarily an evening bag, Sparks said that one of the hottest box purses is the perfume bottle, which looks exactly how it sounds.
But you could always go with the blinged-out purse.
“Bling is really popular this fall,” Sparks said.
