Someone stole a set of keys from inside an unlocked Aurora home and made off with the family’s SUV that was parked outside, police said.
The SUV was parked in a driveway in the 300 block of Ingelside Avenue and was targeted between 10:30 p.m. Tuesday and 6:30 a.m. Wednesday.
According to police, the keys to the SUV were taken off of a key rack that was located just inside the home’s unlocked back door. Inside the stolen SUV were baby seats, tools, documents and additional items.
A wallet, checks, cash and other items were also taken from an unlocked minivan in the driveway, police said.
Aurora Police Department spokesman Dan Ferrelli said some of the stolen items were found later Wednesday morning in the 700 block of Prairie Street. The SUV was located around 11:15 a.m. Wednesday in the 1300 block of Monomoy Street.
Ferrelli said police are processing the scenes for evidence. Anyone with information is asked to call Aurora police investigators at 630-256-5500 or Crime Stoppers at 630-892-1000.
