Rookies Addison Russell and Kris Bryant return Tuesday to PNC Park, where they hope to continue their growth as the Chicago Cubs try to catch the Pittsburgh Pirates for the top National League wild card spot.
Russell returns to the site of his major-league debut at second base on April 21. But over the past 5 1/2 weeks, Russell has gained the faith of the Cubs in taking over at shortstop.
Bryant made a couple of costly mistakes in a loss here Aug. 5. But since then, Bryant has helped carry a more potent offense.
