Chicago Blackhawks owner and chairman Rocky Wirtz has paid $4.2 million to expand his spread in Winnetka.

Through a land trust, Wirtz, 62, paid that amount last month to buy a five-bedroom, 7,350-square-foot French Provincial-style mansion in Winnetka that is directly behind his existing home.

Built in 2007, the two-story brick house has 7 1/2 baths, high ceilings, hardwood floors, six fireplaces, a master suite with his and hers baths, a library with a fireplace, a sunroom and a finished walkout basement with a bedroom, a rec room, a wine room, an exercise room and a media room.

In 2007, Wirtz paid $1.975 million for his current home, a 3,457-square-foot vintage house on a 0.95-acre parcel that was built in 1923. Now Wirtz has more than doubled his acreage with the new purchase.

The real estate agent who represented Wirtz in the transaction, Julie Miller of The Hudson Company, declined to comment on the deal.
