Waukegan police released video clips Thursday of a vehicle investigators say was involved in an unsolved death last January.
In a statement sent with the video, police officials said the evidence was being made public “with the hope that it will jog someone’s memory.”
Gaylord Davis, 49, was found dead near 9th and Prescott streets in the early morning hours of Jan. 3. Information released at that time stated that Davis suffered “significant trauma,” with police reporting that the incident was being investigated as a homicide.
Waukegan police Cmdr. Joe Florip said Thursday that the clips have been in the possession of investigators since shortly after the incident, having been obtained from private camera systems during canvassing of the area. He added that the clips show a suspect vehicle from several angles, but do not show images of Davis.
According to the police statement, detectives with the Waukegan Police Department’s Criminal Investigation’s Division (CID) are “interested in speaking with the occupants of the metallic-colored Jeep observed in the attached videos.”
“An occupant of the Jeep was in an altercation with Davis and the other two occupants are sought for information,” police said.
The occupants of the Jeep are described by police as a white or Hispanic female, a white or Hispanic male and a black male.
Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the department’s Criminal Investigation Tip Line at (847) 360-9001. An unspecified reward is also being offered for information leading to an arrest.
